What are the natural flavors?
The natural flavors in our Liquid Folate are the Lemon and Cherry flavors. They are all-natural and organic extracts! Vegetable Glycerin is a natural plant-based sweetener.
Why does Orgen FA mention Folic Acid? Is it really Folate?
Orgen-FA is 100% USDA Certified Organic and could not be certified if it contained any synthetic Folic Acid or additives. There is a common misconception that Folic Acid can only be synthetic, most likely stemming from prior synthetic supplements being exclusively called Folic Acid. The reality is that Folic Acid is simply a term for a hydrolyzed form of Folate.
Folic Acid is mentioned because that is what Orgen-FA is standardized for. Current HPLC analytical tests are "wet" tests, which means that moisture is added to the dried powder. This spontaneously hydrolyzes Folates into acids. Because of this natural physical biochemistry, it is easier to detect and measure Folic Acid than it is to detect and measure de-hydrolyzed forms (folates). We hope that in the future more testing will be available and this step will no longer be necessary.
Orgen-FA is standardized to 5% Folic Acid, with the remaining 95% being Organic Lemon Peel extract containing naturally occurring co-factors and co-nutrients.
