Can you support egg quality naturally?
Egg quantity declines with age in a way that cannot be reversed, but egg quality is a somewhat different story, and research suggests it may be partially, not fully, modifiable. A randomized controlled trial found that CoQ10 pretreatment improved ovarian response and embryo quality in women with a diminished ovarian reserve. This does not mean age stops mattering. It means the picture is less fatalistic than "your eggs are simply getting worse and there is nothing to do about it."
Quantity and quality are not the same thing
According to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, ovarian reserve refers specifically to the number of oocytes remaining, not their quality. Common reserve tests are reasonably good at predicting how many eggs might be retrieved in a stimulation cycle, but ASRM notes they are poor predictors of reproductive potential independent of age, meaning a reserve number alone does not tell the whole quality story.
A 2025 committee statement from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists similarly distinguishes ovarian reserve decline from egg quality, and specifically notes that certain factors may accelerate a decline in ovarian reserve and negatively affect egg quality, which implies the reverse may also be true: some factors may help protect it.
What the CoQ10 research actually found
A randomized controlled trial published in Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology studied CoQ10 pretreatment in 186 young women with diminished ovarian reserve undergoing IVF. Women who received CoQ10 for 60 days before their IVF cycle needed lower doses of stimulation medication and had significantly better embryo quality outcomes compared to those who did not receive pretreatment.
A 2024 systematic review and meta-analysis in Annals of Medicine reviewed this and related research, concluding that CoQ10 pretreatment appears to be an effective supportive intervention for IVF outcomes in women with diminished ovarian reserve, while also noting that many of the included studies had relatively limited sample sizes and that larger, more rigorous trials are still needed.
What the mechanism actually is
CoQ10 is involved in mitochondrial energy production, and eggs are unusually dependent on mitochondrial function to mature properly and support early embryo development. As natural CoQ10 levels decline with age, researchers have theorized that supplementation may help offset some of that age-related mitochondrial decline, which is the biological reasoning behind these trials, even though the clinical evidence is still developing.

Frequently asked questions
Can egg quality really be improved, or is that overselling the research?
The research is real but still developing. CoQ10 pretreatment has shown measurable benefits for embryo quality in clinical trials, though researchers themselves note that larger, more rigorous studies are still needed before firmer conclusions can be drawn.
Does egg quality decline the same way for everyone?
No. According to ASRM, ovarian reserve varies considerably among women of the same age, so age is a strong general predictor but not a precise individual one.
How long before an IVF cycle should CoQ10 be started?
The clinical trial referenced above used 60 days of pretreatment before an IVF cycle. If you are preparing for a specific cycle, talk with your fertility provider about timing.
Is Premium Fertility Gummies only for women doing IVF?
No. It is formulated for women trying to conceive broadly, whether through IVF or natural conception, and supports reproductive wellness generally, not only fertility treatment cycles.†
Can I take Premium Fertility Gummies during pregnancy?
No. Premium Fertility Gummies is not for use during pregnancy.
What is the difference between CoQ10 and myo-inositol for fertility?
CoQ10 is studied for its role in mitochondrial energy production relevant to egg quality, while myo-inositol is studied for its role in insulin signaling and ovarian hormone function. They work through different mechanisms and are often used together.
