Staff Spotlight: Maren Meitzer, Director of Customer Obsession

As part of our Stork Spotlight series, we had the opportunity to sit down with our Director of Customer Obsession, Maren Meitzer, to chat about obsessing over customers and the products that support her on the daily.

What do you do at Pink Stork?

I am the Customer Obsession Director, so my job is all about obsessing over customers. We do a lot of more than just making sure their order is right or that they get their refund. We are there with customers to cry with them, celebrate with them, and support them in whatever way they need.

What’s your favorite part of what you do?

My favorite part of what I’m able to do here is I can be unapologetically myself, and my other favorite part is when women tell me they’re pregnant. Something that really stuck with me is one day I was checking the Instagram messages, and someone had messaged us a picture of her pregnancy test, and she was like “I took the Fertility Tea, and I’m pregnant,” and I thought about it all day: I was probably one of the first people she told. I love Pink Stork because I can be unapologetically myself. I can talk loudly in the office, I can have a messy desk, and I can take walks to Starbucks. I can have a completely different work style than some of my team, but we still all work together and have fun!

What’s the most challenging part of your job?

Probably the most challenging part of my job professionally is organization. It’s not something I thrive in, but stuff has to be organized for a job to get done. And then probably big picture what’s the hardest part of my job is hearing stories of women that are struggling. That’s just more challenging on an emotional level. It’s challenging, but it’s empowering that we are able to support women no matter what they need. We are here for women when they have nobody else, they’re not comfortable talking to anyone else, or they’re just going through something completely alone. That part is really challenging because it’s meaningful.

Tell us your background. What did you do before your current role?

I actually started at Pink Stork in 2016 while I was a sophomore at Flagler College. I used to go to the warehouse and take pictures of pregnant Amy doing yoga and stuff like that. After I graduated in 2019, I was hired on as a graphic designer, and after that, I ran our clothing line for a little bit. Then, I tried out Customer Obsession, and I truly fell in love with the position. I just love the company, so I was really just willing to try anything and it helps that I was able to grow a team doing something I love!

What do you do for fun outside of work?

I like to do hot yoga. I like to sweat out the toxins. I like to hang out with my dog, Dallas, a black lab mix. He’s very stubborn. I also love going to happy hour and exploring St. Augustine. I’ve been here for about five years, and there’s always something new to do and new restaurants to try, new drinks to try. I also love hanging out with my mom. She lives in Vero Beach, so I drive down there a lot, and we hang out together.

What inspires you?

I think what inspires me in this position specifically is knowing that the work that I’m doing means something, so if we’re talking to someone who just got pregnant, sometimes they’ll reach back out and say that they had a miscarriage or vice versa. You know, I’m just really inspired to show up every day and not be there for myself and the company, but to be there for those women who just need someone to talk to and relate to.

Walk us through a day in your life. 

Ok, so I wake up every day at 7:10 exactly. I start setting my alarm at 6:30, and they go off in increments of 5 minutes, but I don’t actually wake up until 7:10. And then I have to take my dog out for like 15 to 20 minutes, and then I run upstairs, and I do my skincare routine, which right now is a bunch of the Ordinary serums. I gua sha my face, lay on my floor and stretch out my spine for five minutes, and feed Dallas. Then, I get dressed and run out the door. When I get to the office, I walk in and say hi to my team, usually fill up my water bottle, and then when I get to my desk, the first thing I do every day is check my emails and our CRM, which is what all our customer service tickets run through. I see what was happening last night, that kind of stuff, and then I start going to meetings a lot in the morning, and then by the afternoon, I try to do some big picture stuff. Right now, I’m reading a book called “Making of a Manager.” I try to read that for like 10 minutes just to kind of give myself a break, and then I usually go home, let my dog out again, go to yoga, and then I go home, cook dinner, maybe have a drink sometimes, and then I go to bed. I used to take sleeping pills, like the kind of stuff where you wake up and you feel like you just took cold medicine, but now I use our Total Sleep Supplement religiously. At exactly 8 p.m. every single night, I take one Total Sleep. I only take one because, personally, two will knock me out too much.

What do you love about living in St. Augustine?

I’m originally from Littleton, CO, which is outside of Denver, so I love that there’s no snow. I love that there’s a beach. I love the historical downtown. I love to eat and drink, so I like that there’s a lot of restaurants. I also just really love Pink Stork, so that’s one of the big reasons that I like St. Augustine.

Favorite PS Product?

I really like our Total Cleanse, and I also keep a bunch of gummies in my desk that I just take whenever I feel like I need a sweet snack. Also, Morning Sickness Mango Ginger Sweets are my favorite.
