How to Be a Mom, Run a Business & Still Have Fun

Being a #Mompreneur isn't just something that is trending. It is a movement that is becoming a real source of income for mama's who want to stay home with their kids. Whether it is working for a company or starting your own business, finding balance between your work + your family can be challenging ... but more so, it can be fun!

I have learned a few things over the years as Pink Stork has expanded and my family has grown. And I don't want to keep it all to myself, so I hope you find it helpful!

Be clear on your vision + do it. Set your goals. Plan your days + weeks so that you don't lose sight of that vision. But stay flexible. Roll with it. Things happen. Kids get sick, kids need extra snuggles, kids argue, and sometimes kids just need to burn off energy by running around outside. It is ok to be with your kids for a moment. Work can wait. Your kids are the reason you are home in the first place!

Be organized. Find a system that works for you and get organized! Maybe it is a paper calendar or a running task list on an app on your phone. There are SO many resources out there that can help you organize your business, family, and life. Or maybe you are at a place in your business where you can bring on team members to help you get organized. (I am so thankful for the awesome Pink Stork team - they truly keep me organized!) Building a team is an investment, but it is worth it. Think of it this way: it is less stress on you + more time with your kids!

Be able to multi-task when needed. I cannot tell you how many times I have been on a work call while changing a diaper. Mom's are super multi-taskers!

Plan buffer times. This one saves me ... daily! If I know I have a meeting at 12:00 pm, then I give myself a 10 minute window to gather my thoughts + take a moment to breathe before the meeting. There is nothing worse than being out a breathe for a meeting because I was frantically running around!

Keep your marriage a priority. Build in time for one another that doesn't involve the kids or work. Maybe this is a weekly date night or a 30 minute time frame every evening where you sit and catch up. Pour into one another + invest time into being together.

Make mundane moments fun. You know those daily or weekly tasks that can be so mundane ... like grocery shopping? Make those fun! If you take your kids to the store with you, give them all a list of items they are responsible for spotting as you walk up + down the aisles. Or if you get to go the store alone, put on some music, listen to a podcast, or call a friend to catch up. Make those mundane, every day/week tasks fun for you!

This last one isn't for everyone, but for me it is huge. I am Christian so keeping my relationship with the Lord is a key. It sets the tone for my day, my month, and my life.

It is important that you love what you do and do what you love. If you don't, then it could all feel like a burden. Nobody wants that! I hope you connected with this post on some level + find these tips helpful.

Mama, you can do it! You can run your business, manage your family, and have fun. It is possible! Don't give up, the world needs more mama's like you. Mama's who work hard at what they do so they can be at home with their families.
