4 At-Home UTI Remedies

4 At-Home UTI Remedies

If you’ve ever experienced a UTI, you know how miserable it feels. And, chances are, if you’re reading this, you’ve experienced one or will experience one. According to the National Kidney Foundation, one in five women has experienced or will experience a UTI in their lifetime. And, women are more prone to UTIs than men are. While these statistics don’t seem promising, the good news is that there are many home remedies available to help you find relief from your UTI symptoms.

Drink Water...LOTS of it!

Drinking enough water is an easy way to help prevent and treat UTIs. Your urinary tract organs will remove waste and toxins from your body while helping to retain essential nutrients. Staying hydrated also means more frequent urination, which means less time for infections to occur in the urinary tract. You should strive to drink at least 6-8 ounces of water daily.

Drink cranberry juice.

This is one of the oldest tricks in the book, and it is also one of the most helpful. Cranberry juice contains antioxidants, which include polyphenols containing antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Be sure to buy cranberry juice and not cranberry juice cocktail, as the added sugars make the drink less effective at providing UTI symptom relief. 400 milliliters is the daily recommended amount to prevent or relieve UTI symptoms.

Practice good hygiene.

A lot of UTIs develop from bacteria that gets into the urethra, where urine comes out of the body. Once bacteria reaches the urethra, it can travel into your urinary tract, causing infection. After urination, wipe front to back in a way that prevents bacteria from coming into contact with the urethra.

Take a UTI supplement.

Pink Stork’s Total UTI  supplement contains D-Mannose, a sugar that prevents bacteria from building up inside the wall of your bladder. The supplement also contains cranberry concentrate and hibiscus, which provide relief from UTI symptoms!
